I definitely miss our time out in the wild, all of us feeling free. No where to really go, no one to be, just riding our bikes through the forests.
You can take the girl out of vanlife but you can’t take the vanlife out of the girl.

After spending some time settling into our new home in Durham, we are finally ready to find ways to get back outdoors.

For now, we are going to deck out the Prius and we might even build a few things to make it more camping friendly 😉

Going from a fully stocked campervan to a hard back seat is well, an adjustment. We quickly realized we need extra supplies to make life liveable.

One of those things is the @surviveoutdoorslonger Venture Light 3000 Recharge with Power Bank available at REI. It’s a lantern AND a usb power bank all in one!

Now that we’ve got lights and a way to charge our phones, what other things do you use to make life easier when you car camp?

I’m here for all the suggestions for roughing it 😅.

I’m enjoying having the space and energy to write, to work, and to read. I’m walking more than ever, thanks to the dogs need to be outside all the time, and I’ve started running again.

I’m weary of February when seasonal depressive disorder tries to creep in but for now I’m in the present trying to grow a few roots and see what loft life is really like.

Anyone else feel like they are thriving this Fall?

I looked at my Instagram bio today and realized it I looked at my Instagram bio today and realized it said “Full-Time remote van life” and that it wasn’t true anymore.

I know I need to change it but what do I put? How do I describe our identity in a few words to new people? I’m not ready to be anything other than a “van-lifer” this identity we’ve had for years now.

Are we “entrepreneurs” or “Digital nomads”? We still have our website hoping to help future and current vanlifers, so what does that mean.

Although I’m enjoying my new life routine I still love the part of me that loves living in 60sq and moving every single day. I miss our tiny home on wheels, waking up to a new view every day, and being apart of this community.

Living in a van gives you so much free time and really none at all. You are often in a constant state of “go”, or at least I was.

As much as I miss opening the side doors and watching the pups fly out and roam on whatever land we happened to be on that day, I’m really enjoying staying in one place and taking in every moment.

As I stepped into the airport headed to nyc for th As I stepped into the airport headed to nyc for the first time in years, I suddenly felt alone.

I’m always with shawn and the boys. We’re a pack. Waking up together, eating together, snoozing together.

I haven’t been on a trip by myself in YEARS. Mostly be necessity and also by choice. We were vanlifeing and excited about our daily adventures.

We knew that we wouldn’t always be inside 60 square feet, worrying about small daily tasks such as filling up our limited water supply or where we would sleep that night.

We also knew that each day was a new chance to wake up somewhere beautiful or at the least new.

But now at the airport I found myself without my van and my boys. It felt odd but it also felt good.

So here I am spending a week in NYC on a girls trip with @loreelamb. Just finding a new way to enjoy life and find adventures along the way.
We are officially van-less. It feels strange to no We are officially van-less. It feels strange to not have my home on wheels taking me new places every day.

It’s also been a blast finding new ways to fill our time. Hobbies that we didn’t have enough time for in the van are filling the spaces which all the daily errands of van life took up.

Mountain biking (which I thought aid never do), roller skating, rock climbing, axe throwing, and hiking. All things we had the best of intentions of doing in vanlife that we never seemed to do enough.

It makes sense then that we that we are now doing these things in our @vessi weekend sneakers. These shoes are surprisingly comfy and are great for roaming around town or finding new hikes to take the boys on. The best part? They are waterproof! So we can put our sandals to rest and enjoy all the streams North Carolina has to offer!
