I love taking photos of our lives in the van. Even I love taking photos of our lives in the van. Even if I’m in a bad mood, I can complete a photoshoot, check out the photos and instantly be reminded how incredible life actually is right now.

It’s easy to get distracted by the small things that go wrong in a day and completely forget the big picture. It’s easy to forget all the amazing things that are happening all around us.

It also should be noted that after this beautiful experience and feeling elated, we drove 7 hours attempting to find service, and got stuck down a beach road, IN THE DARK.

So you know, ups and downs 🤣.

When we headed into Baja, we had dreams of clear b When we headed into Baja, we had dreams of clear blue calm waters, sandy beaches, and days filled with laughs.

And to be fair that’s exactly what we got. However it wasn’t immediate. Although the northern half of Baja is absolutely stunning, filled with stunning sea cliffs and green landscapes, is also currently COLD.

From messing up our tourist visas and having to re-enter the border, getting bribed by police, and long long days of driving, Baja did not immediately deliver.

I want to set expectations properly for anyone coming into Baja. If you are looking for those stunning beaches, expect a bit of a drive and some work to get there. (Pro tip: set your sights on Bahia De Conception)

Once you do though, it’s more than worth it!
Normally, I likely wouldn’t post this photo. But Normally, I likely wouldn’t post this photo. But Baja Brie, she thinks it’s a great one 😉.

Baja has been.... Sunny beaches, margaritas, laug Baja has been....

Sunny beaches, margaritas, laughs with friends...

It’s also included frustration with the lack of cell phone service, getting over-heated, paid campgrounds, confusion over the border and soo many other small frustrations.

Although Baja has been incredible I never want life to seem perfect or free from trouble. Life is always full of ups and downs even if the view is beautiful.
Baja has been on my mind for over 10 years. This p Baja has been on my mind for over 10 years. This place has always pulled and tugged at me. In all of our travels over the last few years it never felt like it was the right time to make the trip.

After a long few months of building our van and pushing us to our limits, we needed this trip! It’s been a long journey half way across the US then south from San Diego and across the border but WE MADE IT, WE FINALLY MADE IT!

The first few days up north were windy a little rainy and cold with rocky beaches. After a cold winter we needed hot sandy beaches with warmer water and lots of sunshine, so we pushed through to the east side of Baja. It didn’t stop us from enjoying the landscape and stopping for the coastal views and a little game of Peanuckle on the roof. 📸 by Katie @soweboughtavan.
Baja hair don’t care. Baja has been on our buc Baja hair don’t care.

Baja has been on our bucket list even before we began van life. When our friends talked of a plan to all meet in Baja we immediately knew we had to do it.

The van still has a few things left to be built but for now we are relaxing enjoying our time in Mexico, drinking margaritas, working, and getting a tan.
